I create art because it gives me a sense of serenity. It calms me when I need it most. The colors and shapes of the world are what inspire me most. I love to recreate pictures as closely as I can as well as try to imagine up some of my own ideas. My goal is to always be the best artist I can be and always try to challenge myself when creating a new piece. In the future I would love to be able to sell my art, but I do not see it as a career for myself.
Monet has always been my greatest inspiration. When creating landscapes, I love to try to adopt his style and create short brush strokes as well as a great deal of texture. When painting people, I enjoy black and white acrylic; I am not sure why, but when it comes to people, individuality is what inspires me the most. The differences in the human face fascinates me incredibly, and it is always difficult for me to select a subject for my work. When drawing, I like to draw people as well, either with pen or prismacolors because of how they glide onto the paper. Finally, for sculpting, I love to sculpt things that can be found in nature such as flowers or trees.
Currently my favorite thing to do is paint and I continue to challenge myself by finding detailed and intriguing subjects. I plan on continuing working with acrylic, but would like to draw some more and hopefully sculpt as well. Some challenges I would like to overcome in the near future is my difficulty with creating correct proportions and correct shading and highlighting of paintings and drawings.
